PAID SICK TIME / VACATION LEAVE (PTO) REQUEST

PUERTO RICO

  • PAID SICK TIME (PST) / VACATION LEAVE (PTO) REQUEST FOR PUERTO RICO PAYROLL ASSOCIATES:

    Sick Leave

Atrium Associates who work at least 130 hours monthly in Puerto Rico are eligible to accrue earned sick time at a rate of one (1) day per month, up to 12 days per calendar year. Atrium’s calendar year is defined as January 1 to December 31.

If the need for sick leave is foreseeable, you must verbally notify your immediate supervisor and Atrium representative no more than seven days in advance. Paid Sick Time (PST) is compensated at your current hourly rate. Unused sick leave can carry over to the next year, up to a maximum of 15 days. Associates are also permitted to use up to five (5) days of PST annually to care for a parent, child, spouse, or a person under the employee’s legal custody or guardianship, including an elderly person (60 years or older), a minor, or an individual with a disability.

You must be on an active assignment to be eligible for a PST payment, and the request must be submitted within 14 days of the leave. If your assignment ends at any point, earned but unused PST is not paid out.

    Vacation Leave (PTO)

Associates working at least 130 hours monthly in Puerto Rico are also eligible to accrue paid vacation leave. The accrual rate is determined by the Associate's length of service:

    • Year 1: 0.5 days per month (up to 6 days per year).

    • Years 2–5: 0.75 days per month (up to 9 days per year).

    • Years 6–15: 1 day per month (up to 12 days per year).

Consistent with Atrium policy, unused vacation days are paid out at the end of each calendar year. Unlike sick leave, any earned but unused vacation time must be paid out at the time of termination, whether voluntary or involuntary. This payout applies even if the Associate has been employed for less than one year.
